Mood Board

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t “

Here is a mood board based on our music video ideas. Also, this is the quote we are going to use at the start of our music video which we took from the Alice in Wonderland movie.
When we first tried to find some images to represent what we wanted in our music video we firstly thought of 'Wonderland' therefore we thought of the fairy tales that are mentioned in the song which are Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Cinderella. We also want everything in our music video to be very colourful, we have represented this is our multi coloured pills that we will be using to fit the 'fantasy' theme. We have included in our mood board some of the locations we are planning on using such as, the Pier and the woods. The props we are going to create such as the mushrooms and the money that are all needed to help create our 'Wonderland' and to help fit our lyrics.

What is a music video?

A music video is a short film made up of film clips and images that are played alongside a specific piece of music.  Music videos that are now made in the modern day tend to be made as a sort of 'marketing device' which is then intended to increase record sales.
There are many different types of music videos, some are fairly simple and are created to follow the lyrics in the song, and however some have a hidden meaning.

Analysis of our thematic word cloud

I thought a good way to deepen our analysis of our Foundation Portfolio, was to create this word cloud that generated the most repeated words on our Year 12. The first word which grabs my attention is 'Preliminary'. This word was very important in our planning and evaluation stages. We repeatedly referred back to our preliminary task for development on: Cinematography, Composition and Sound.
Another word that 'jumps out' on our word cloud is the word 'Corrected'. Throughout the blog, we to continuously correct things such as our initial ideas. For example, we planned to film inside a nuclear bunker, but the idea didn't work and we had to correct what our next move was. Another example, is our choice of location. The majority of our opening sequence was filmed inside the 'abandoned house'. However, we also wanted to film some clips in a forest. This idea did not work either as there was no continuity.. so this location had to be corrected.

Evaluation of the Year 12 Foundation Portfolio

When evaluating the journey my group took through Year 12, there were both positives and negatives.
When looking at the positives of our Foundation Portfolio, our biggest positive was the editing of our final product. We spent a long time practicing camera angles and compositions. Alongside this, we spent hours testing and analysing different effects; this made  a perfect combination, and we succeeded our desired effect.

We also had many other positives to our Foundation Portfolio, such as our planning and research. In order to make our opening sequence as realistic & professional as possible, we did a lot of research into sub-textual issues that surrounded our idea, such as Schizophrenia. Evidence of this is posted on our Year 12 blog. We found by doing this research, when it came to producing and evaluating our product, our analysis was coherent.

However, there were also areas of improvement in our Foundation Portfolio.
The biggest problem we faced was formatting certain footage for uploading purposes. We spent hours trying to upload the corrected files, but this was unsuccessful. In our Advanced Portfolio we're going to have to overcome these technical difficulties.
Another area for improvement would be our use of technological language. When evaluating our Foundation Portfolio we discovered that we weren't using the best terms we could have used, which made us slightly lack in our professionalism. We know that the Advanced Portfolio will be much more demanding, especially for technological language, and we will be ready for this.
