We wanted to have a focus group which we are planning to film to then upload to our blog. This way we can as a group go over and discuss what everyone has said about what they expect from a pop video, who they expect to see in it and discuss our own ideas for our music video with them to get their feedback. In our focus group we will make sure that we have our target audience present as it is important to us as a group that we get a lot of feedback to work from in order to carry on with our music video successfully.
There are pros and cons for a focus group.
Pros
- A focus group is an easy way to gather a good amount of information from your target audience.
- The questions that you ask can be more specific as you can ask exactly what you want to know.
- People in a focus group can speak more freely therefore will get a variety of different answers.
Cons
- If the people that are involved in your focus group are friends they may all follow each other and give the same answer which will result in having very little feedback to work with.
- There may be a main speaker in the group which will again leave us with little to work with.
- We need to make sure we find the right sort of people for our focus group.
